Canceling a credit card can change the whole look of your credit report, in fact it can make your credit rating a lot less appealing to lenders. This way there can be no misunderstandings about what the problem is concerning your credit card. These misunderstandings can keep things from getting taken care of in a timely manner. You should also include a copy of the letter that you sent when you first asked for your account to be closed. And make sure that your letter is certified so that you will know they have received it.

Then keep checking your credit report to see if and when the mistake is fixed.
